		<description>Santorum may or may not survive, though the headlines yesterday about him 
&quot;reconsidering his stance on the death penalty&quot; makes me wonder just what 
maneuvering he&#039;s considering for 2008.

That said, while I like the idea of Democrats deliberately playing possum 
so as not to get any backsplash from the Schiavo case, I fear Occam&#039;s Razor
has a simpler explanation: they don&#039;t have it in them to do anything else.
Where&#039;s the charismatic Democrat to stand up and say that this is just the
latest in a long line of examples of Republicans talking about small 
government and states&#039; rights out of one side of their mouth and increasing
government and interfering with states&#039; rights on the other?  It&#039;s not a 
hard point to make, but I don&#039;t see it being made.

		<description>I think the Dems played possum on this one because they knew the courts would never let it stand.  A majority want Terry Schiavo to be able to die, and I think this is going to end up looking really bad for the Republicanss in the long run.  I *sincerely* doubt that Santorum will survive the next election cycle now.</description>
