I’m in a giant underground room with several thousand people. Swirling Varilights and intellibeams are lighting the crowd with flickering, rainbow colors. Giant video screens display the featured entertainer, and throbbing techno music is hitting my ears like a parade of rum-drunk sponges.

I feel like I’m at a rave.

Except the “featured entertainer” is the CEO of Symantec, and everyone is still wearing business casual clothing and avoiding eye contact with each other, and nobody is grinding their teeth or dancing. So in that sense, not so much like a rave.
