In her tummy
Kate and I are out in Arizona, visiting her folks. Luke, Lindy, and Sabrina are out at the same time, and the progress of Lindy’s second pregnancy is a recurring topic. Sabrina is being prepped for the responsibilities and fun of being a big sister, so she’s very aware of the little person in Lindy’s abdomen.
Sabrina’s not even to her third birthday, of course, so her method of processing the coming changes involves declaring that she, too, has a baby in her tummy. When she had an upset stomach two days ago and lost her lunch, she blamed the imaginary baby, who was apparently kicking her at the time.
When asked whether the imaginary baby is a boy or a girl, she looks momentarily pensive, then brightens.
“It’s an alligator,” she says.
