So it turns out ...
… there’s a difference in how it feels to go to bed at 9:30 p.m. and get up at 4:30 a.m. as compared to going to bed at 8:30 p.m. and getting up at 3:30 a.m.
8:30 p.m. felt like a profoundly unnatural time to go to sleep. I think my body thought I might be playing some practical joke on it. “This is a nap, right? You’re going to wake up in twenty minutes and get something more done with your day, right?”
Next question: do the subways run at a different schedule at 4 a.m. as compared to 5 a.m.?
(The Takeaway launches on-air this morning. I could legitimately not be there for reasons of not officially starting the gig for another two weeks, but c’mon: I’m going to pass up a chance to say “I was there when it started?” I think not.)
