Kit makes an interesting point - I wonder if a seven day hospital stay is sufficient justification to buy a Kindle?

I wish I could rent one, first, since I don’t know if they’re a) any good, or b) just another way to trap one in another DRM scheme. One can sell/gift used books, after all, but not e-books. Hmmm.
