Cliff Stoll, Internet Skeptic

01/29/1997

(turned Internet skeptic)

[excerpted paragraph]

"The information highway, which delivers damned little information, is said
to be the roadway to power in progress. After all, information is power. I
don't believe it! Powerful people are seldom informed. Presidents. Prime
ministers. Generals of armies. They don't sit behind a computer reading
stuff off the Internet! Hey, who has the most information? Librarians do!
It's hard to imagine a group of people with less power than librarians."
