from the Washington City Paper:
While tobacco bigwigs furiously backpedal, another group of
commercial lobbyists is actively courting controversy. Having
recently relocated to the District from Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.,
AMATRAP, the American Association of Trappers and Pelters,
promises that the "First Annual Mink-In on the Mall" won't be the
last. Disturbed by the amount of negative press the fur trade has
received, industry spokesmen hope to woo the public with "From
Cage to Couture," a multimedia presentation that will be
accompanied by the processing of live minks into elegant cloaks
and stoles. Register to win a cropped swing coat made before
your eyes today from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on the south side of the Mall
near the Smithsonian Metro stop. FREE. (202) 646-5669. (Leo
Poil)
[this event is scheduled, however, for Tuesday April 1st]
